As
Managing Director of
Traidcraft plc from 1991-2001, Philip Angier can fairly claim a place
amongst the pioneers of social accounting in the UK. Traidcraft was the first UK
plc to publish independently audited social accounts in 1993. In 2000, Philip
Angier collected on behalf of Traidcraft a special award from the
Institute for Social & Ethical AccountAbility.
The
importance of social accounting and performance measurement is becoming
increasingly recognised by social and
community business and voluntary sector organisations. Philip Angier is project
leader of the Valuing the Difference project and a visiting fellow of the
Sustainable Cities Research Institute, Northumbria University.

'Our first
Social Audit has reinforced our belief that COMTECHSA is a great idea! It has
helped us clarify what we do and why we do it... It has helped us to recognise
all the good work that we are doing and it has encouraged us to look at what we
could better in the future.'
